The Importance of Being Open-Minded

38058

One of my mentors recently told me, “you’ve changed light years since we started working together”.

It was true. I felt I had lived five lifetimes in just two years.

Why do you think so much has changed so fast? I asked him.

He went quiet for a minute, reflecting. As with everything, he wanted to give his truest answer.

You are open. All the time. Even if you disagree completely with me, or can’t see something, you’ll look at it. Always. You stay open and you never stop looking for the answer until you have it.

I took that to heart and realized that some of our most life changing sessions had happened out of things I was blocked about or just “disagreed with” but then my own limitations would sweep away after more questions.

I was in bed for nearly 3 months in the beginning part of our mentoring, not sure if I was going to keep living here on earth or die and continue on somewhere else.
crazy to think how many miles have been coveted in such a short time. Amazing really.

Open mind, asking questions, never giving up on the answers and a relentless unyielding desire to find the way — those are all keys. Grateful today!!

question

LIVE IN THE QUESTION is a state of mind that is creating radical opportunity for me right and left.

How can I get to a 7 figure income working less than 20 hours a week??

How can I lean out, get more muscle, and have more fun all at the same time?

QUESTIONS are leading the way for me.

A question that doesn’t have an answer yet CAN TAKE YOU A NEW PLACE you have never been.

If I focus on what I already know, then I’m gonna end up with something that I already have.

But I want increase, so I’m asking to go where I haven’t gone before.

I want money I haven’t created yet.  I want parts of life that I’ve never lived in before.  I want to love in a way I haven’t experienced love before.

So the question HAS TO LEAD (you get me?!)

I’ve been strategizing with a potentially big leader (super big) for my team and we are negotiating the terms.  When I sit down at the table with her I’m thinking “How can WE BOTH get all that we want out of this — more than we expected?”

When you ask a question, answers you didn’t see or know before have an ENTRY POINT into your space.

Buddhists talk about beginner’s mind: the state of openness that doesn’t know.  This is what leads to MORE.

Ego mind–the “I know” mind– is my least favorite to hear about.  Really? You were born of the cosmos and you came from the Gods.  You be been here like 5 earth time minutes.  You *can’t* know.  And You’re so tiny, you don’t know what you don’t know, so permanently STAY OPEN MINDED.

Open to all possibilities

Ok, last story. This week I was meeting with a team member who had decided to let go of a major income stream and status rights in her country. “I can’t fit it in with my family schedule.”

She was right!

So I said, “ok, so we know what is NOT going to work, but there are 50 more options.

We only need ONE.

Let’s play.” We listed creative idea after creative idea and the doors flung open and her mind lit up and suddenly she saw CHOICES.

She stopped thinking: “I am going to lose this”, and started feeling EXCITED how she could keep it.

If something is right, and if it’s FOR you, there’s always a way.

STAY ON THE QUESTION.

Ask questions you don’t have answers to, live inside the space of openness and just keep asking

The cosmos created you.
You have much much more to
Learn, have and RECEIVE.

The Need for Adventure

Hiking pic

This has been a most memorable season bursting with happiness and positive changes ☀️ I’ve been firm on scheduling adventures in nature alongside a bustling family and growing business and it’s brought deep peace and powerful transformation, like soul level stuff. (This pic was on Chetaqua Peak in Boulder, Colorado. You can see these adventures on Instagram at #hmtrailreflections)

Also, my business has been profoundly blessed with new life & inspired ?energized leadership. I am so so thankful for this and ironically, it occurred after total surrender to God and the ‘process of things’ and letting go of all attachments in pursuit of holistic living at level that left nothing out and reached each and every aspiration.

Ahh, deep breath :)) Peace — is that. true. place of arriving (not achievement, lol.)

Today is the day for life to begin for anyone who wants that. ?

Anything can change at any moment. The most important things are to live with an open heart and beginners mind, always seeking that part of the universe that you don’t know yet ? open to the adventures that are yours to have and the prosperity that WANTS you. We came from the cosmos, there is so much to who we are that is waiting to be discovered. Every day is a gift, let go, open up and just go for it. xo

Madd love!

Top 5 Essential Oils for Travel

travelFB

We’ve all been there: the middle seat of an airplane.  No view out the window, no easy access to the aisle, and to make things worse, both fellow travelers have nasty coughs.

Ok, maybe we haven’t had that experience to the T, but middle seat or not, germs are in great abundance in airports and planes.  A renowned study found in the Journal of Environmental Health Research informs its readers that chances for catching a cold could increase 100 times in a plane than you would be living your typical lifestyle.

The last thing I want is to feel unwell on a business trip or family vacation!

So, behold: the ultimate list of essential oil travel tips!  Actually, to avoid this post being several thousand words long, I will just make it my top 5. :)

Oil #1: doTERRA On Guard®.

On Guard acts as an immune booster.  This is a great one if you’re wanting to travel fear-free.  It’s especially great to have on hand when traveling during holidays in the winter when everyone seems to be under the weather.

Oil #2: Melaleuca

It calms minor skin irritations.  You never know what your skin will come in contact with when traveling!  This oil is a must have when using air-travel.

Oil #3: Peppermint

Another point of focus when you travel is keeping it fresh.  Peppermint is practically synonymous with fresh.  It can help keep you awake simply by breathing it in, and it can keep you cool by adding a drop to your water or applying it to your feet or back of your neck.  It also can work wonders for your breath.  Sure is handy to have around, especially when you packed your toothbrush…who knows where?

Oil #4: doTERRA Deep Blue Soothing Blend

After a long day of travel, nothing beats the feeling of a cool and soothing touch from a Deep Blue oil roller bottle.  It can relax sore and tense muscles after a long day’s travel.

Oil #5: Lavender

Summer travel, or travel any time of the year means the sun is shining.  Lavender is amazing for soothing skin, especially after it has been exposed to some extra sunshine!

Traveling with essential oils has helped take a serious load off of my shoulders.  If you have yet to try essential oils, Click HERE to watch an INTRO webinar about essential oils!  If you have tried oils before: what oils are your favorite to travel with?

Be Grateful

37586

“No one owes me anything,” is something I have believed for a long time.

They don’t have to buy products from me, they don’t have to be friends with me, they don’t have to take my calls or even like me. I’m not owed anything.

Every single thing in my world is a gift. Every friend I have. Every dollar. Every good day. They are all gifts

Period.

I L O V E looking at life this way because it causes my mind recognize the value of what I have and not take it for granted.  That’s what I’ve been thinking about on my morning adventure, making love to Boulder a little longer before I fly home. (I am so at home in this hippie town)

I have so much, I feel overwhelmed sometimes with all of the good that constantly flows in my direction.

Sometimes it just comes effortlessly, other times not so much, but still it comes.

Good things happen to me and hard things too… but they also have gifts and teaching me things I had not learned yet.

Being grateful for everything, and taking time to list it out in my mind, erase expectations and just SEE WHAT IS puts me in a state of grace with life itself. Could this day get any better?

When You’ve Lost that Loving Feeling

“My whole career started because I wanted to put words on a page,” I told a friend recently.

It was a moment where you happen to speaking words that are a revelation to you while you’re saying them.

This whole thing started twelve years ago and I was loaded with fear, limiting beliefs, and insecurities. During small segments of time, I would write about the mess that I was. As my fingers pounded on the keys, I knocked down walls in my mind one line and one page at a time. I soon began to find a more graceful way to exist in my own life. That’s the “why” on my entire career –its natural point of origin.

Freedom.

Writing was the vehicle that drove me there. It took me to the depths of radical honesty to just put words to how I was living. It was like an invisible staircase would appear and I could find the way out.

After months of writing random pages, they lined themselves up into chapters and it was picked up by a publisher. The book turned into a radio show. The radio show turned into speaking requests. Speaking turned into coaching programs. Coaching turned into a wellness product community (doTERRA) And then everything got so fast, it became a blur. A following grew, a customer base grew, and I climbed to the top of the company! I was traveling here and there and money kept rolling in faster and faster and life got bigger. I found I was accidentally creating things that were bigger than my ability at times to manage. Some days I was leading it and other times it was leading me.

It was all born from desire to get out of a tiny existence where I was crawling through life.

It was a big victory for me, that first book, and those first miles of self-recovery. Perhaps my biggest yet because I remember how scared I was. I was a college dropout who spent years just followed my husband’s career and I thought “no one in the world is going to read this crap” and who do I think I am to even try this? I wrote it while I was terrified and sent it to a publisher (still terrified) and people did read it and the rest un-spooled after that.

I thought of all this after what I said out loud: “My whole career began because I wanted to write words on a page”.  Looking back, I can see when I stay true to that core, I am the happiest.  When I write to my readers, on my blog, and as I keep journaling and draft chapters of my next book, I am always renewed and filled with passion. When I get too busy for that, I die out.  When I work with entrepreneurs who feel burned out, I ask the question:

What got you started?

I ask them to go back in time to find ORIGINAL FIRE where they went to work just for that thing and nothing else. They always have a reason and they almost always light up when they think of it. Now, let’s bring it back into the center of what you do every day, I tell them. Adjustments are made, they clean out their overbooked schedule a bit, they make room for a little more self-care time and soon the passion comes back. Writing is the center nucleus of creativity for my entire work and it keeps me connected to core truth of who I am and what I’m doing. No matter how busy you are, when you stay connected to your core, you’ll always be home.

How to keep a clear mind

Hey, I know you’ve got a lot to do and you’re probably amazing at staying super calm, patient and clear minded all the time … haha :) but in case you’re like me and you need a little help with that, I’m going to give you my top 3 tricks to getting in your zen space, even when you have a lot to do!

Tip 1: Meditation

Three years ago, I hired a meditation teacher for about $150 an hour to my house and train me on his techniques and it was amazing.

About once a week :)

What I needed was DAILY practice, but I lacked the discipline and know how to give this gift to myself so when I found this app, I was ecstatic.

Mindfulness App pic

Did you know that in under 30 minutes a day, Harvard researchers found that meditation will actually chain your brain chemistry?

It decreases your fight or flight response and increases your rational thinking ability, the problem with most people is they feel they don’t have TIME.

This handy little app will give you 5 minute meditation options all the way up to an hour and even sends you REMINDERS throughout the day.

Imagine me in my office at 1pm, hours into my work day getting a reminder that says, “Are you present?”  I love it! It’s just what I need!

Tip 2: Peppermint & In Tune Essential Oils

So of course, you knew this was coming, an essential oil tool and the reason I love these babies is because they do the work for you!

A few months ago, I woke up every day for three days with brain fog.  I couldn’t get my mind clear and it was really frustrating me.  I’d look at my work schedule and I felt like my communication was hazy and losing impact.  On the third day, I was driving to pick up my daughter from her friends house and my mind completely cleared. I felt like the foggy glass I had been looking through was shining perfectly bright again.

“Wow, maybe a drive was all I needed,” I thought.

But then I remembered I put In tune on the back of my neck right before I left the house and I started to laugh.

Duh!  Why didn’t I use this oil three days ago?!

intune__14728.1458942873.1280.1280

That’s how I got my testimony of in tune and peppermint has a similar effect on me. I keep a roller bottle in my purse at all times and have been known to use it on strangers I’ve just met (with permission, of course :)

I love to diffuse peppermint and wild orange in my office during the day because it keeps me alert.

Think about that for a moment.
You might not feel like you want to put in that kind of effort or even spend that money, but how much are you LOSING because your mind is not working on maximum impact.

For me, an hour at work at my highest level is worth 3 or 4 hours of time on a lower energy level.  I can’t afford *not to do these things!

TIP 3: Create Your TOP 3

Top 3 is a little phrase in my community that signals us to the highest, most effective action that will yield the highest results that we want.

I keep notecards handy in my office and my desk, and haha, I’ve even been known to keep these in my bathroom vanity because for some reason, I get mad inspiration when I’m doing my hair.  Go figure, BUT…

let’s say I want to increase my sales for the month and that’s my goal.

Here’s what I WOULD NOT Do.

I wouldn’t walk around thinking, “I wonder if we’re going to make it.”
I wouldn’t check every single team in my back office and if I see any kind of lag, think, “Oh no, we’re not going to get there.’

Blah. Gross. That makes me want to vomit.

I would go to a much HIGHER place, of belief, radical positivity and massive action.

Here’s how to use TOP 3.

**Write on a note card what you want.  Mine might look like this:

We break $2 million in sales this month.  (I write it in the present tense as though it exists NOW.)

**Then, I write down my TOP 3 effective actions for me to do that will get me the highest results. Only 3. I focus all my energy on HIGHEST IMPACT.

I might write down…

Close all my new leads.
Do an enrollment webinar
Promote incentives to builders

I go all out on action, not stress.

During that time, here’s what I would NOT do.
Surf social media, bob around here and there with my activities.
Nope. I’d become super protective of my time and DO EXACTLY what was going to get me where I wanted to go.

It would keep my head clear and my emotions calm so I could use that energy to MOVE
(not to stress!)

So…there you go!

Remember, you really can do this.
You can achieve the big goals you have in your life and keep your mind calm and clear at the same time!

Madd love baby!

Heather
